COUPLE THERAPY

I provide a relationship counseling structure that enables couples to learn the practical tools and practices to help them achieve greater understanding, connection, and intimacy in their relationship.

Every relationship is different, and each relationship comes with its own unique set of complex challenges. Gottman method therapy includes a thorough assessment of the couple's relationship and integrates research-based interventions. Gottman method therapy includes a thorough assessment of the couple's relationship and integrates research-based interventions. Through these interventions, partners are learning to gain effective relationship skills. Interventions are designed to help couples strengthen their relationships in three primary areas: friendship, conflict management, and the creation of shared meaning. Couples learn to replace negative conflict patterns with positive interactions and to repair past hurts. Interventions designed to increase closeness and intimacy are used to improve friendship, deepen emotional connection, and create changes that enhance the couples’ shared goals.

Some of the relationship issues that may be addressed in therapy include:

  • Frequent conflict and arguments

  • Poor communication

  • Emotionally distant couples

  • Specific problems such as infidelity, money management, parenting, etc.

The goals of Couple Therapy are to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy in conflicting situations, and produce a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship. Couple Therapy aims to help couples build stronger relationships overall and healthier ways to cope with issues as they arise in the future.

My work with couples focuses on giving them the tools to build a long-term loving relationship that will be happy and fulfilling for years to come. As a result, when a couple’s therapy work ends, both partners have the insight and the tools of intimacy so that when an issue arises in their relationship, they can recognise it and deal with it successfully on their own.

Strong relationships do not happen by chance.

I work with adults and couples, and my professional interests are primarily in the domain of relationships. I help people heal and reconnect, practice sincere honesty in relationships to build satisfying loving relationships. I am using an approach that not only supports and repairs distressed marriages and committed relationships but strengthens happy ones.

The initial sessions focus on completing a comprehensive assessment of your relationship’s strengths and difficulties and your family histories. From there, we start to work on understanding your negative cycles of communication. Therefore, you need to allow for 5 to 6 sessions of therapy before you make decisions about whether couple therapy will work for you both or not.
